Nowadays, there are many different ways to take a pregnancy test. You can use a home pregnancy test kit, which you can buy at a pharmacy or grocery store. Or you can go to your doctor and have a blood test done. A blood test is more accurate than a home pregnancy test kit, but it’s also more expensive.
A blood pregnancy test measures the level of a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your blood. hCG is produced by the placenta after the embryo has implanted in the uterus. The level of hCG starts to increase shortly after implantation and doubles every two to three days. So if you have a blood pregnancy test done, your doctor will measure the level of hCG in your blood to see if it’s increasing.
If the level of hCG is increasing, it means that you’re pregnant. If the level of hCG is not increasing, it means that you’re not pregnant.
Will An Ectopic Pregnancy Show On A Pregnancy Test
An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that implantation occurs outside the uterus, most commonly in one of the Fallopian tubes. An ectopic pregnancy will not show up on a home pregnancy test. Most ectopic pregnancies are diagnosed using ultrasound. If an ectopic pregnancy is suspected, a physician will likely order a blood test to measure the level of the pregnancy hormone, hCG.
Late Period Negative Pregnancy Test Spotting And Cramping
It’s possible to experience spotting and cramping during the late period even when you’re not pregnant. This is usually caused by changes in the hormone levels or by an infection. If you’re not pregnant, the best way to treat the spotting and cramping is by using over-the-counter medication or by visiting your doctor.
Pregnancy Glucose Tolerance Test
A pregnancy glucose tolerance test is a blood test used to measure the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood after drinking a glucose solution. This test is used to screen for gestational diabetes, a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy.
The test is usually performed between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy. A woman with gestational diabetes has an increased risk of having a baby who is large for gestational age (big baby), has low blood sugar after birth (hypoglycemia), or develops diabetes later in life.
A pregnant woman should always consult with her doctor before taking a pregnancy glucose tolerance test.

There are many different types of pregnancy tests on the market. Some are more accurate than others. The most accurate tests are those that measure the level of hCG in your urine. Some tests are not as accurate as others.
